Step One thought and scripture – Day 9.

Step One in Alcoholics Anonymous

Admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One in Living Free

I now see [admit] that I, of myself, am powerless, unable to control [manage] my life by myself.

We need to come to a place of being completely bankrupt of ourselves and look to Him as our source in every area of life. This is not being poor financially, but poor in our own abilities, capabilities, and self-reliance. God will bless us and meet our needs as we have need of Him on a daily basis.

Matthew 5:3

New Living Translation (NLT)

3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
