Step One in Alcoholics Anonymous

Admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One in Living Free

I now see [admit] that I, of myself, am powerless, unable to control [manage] my life by myself.

We must every day, no matter how long we have been clean, remain in a mindset of powerlessness. Once we start thinking that we are strong in our own power then we are in trouble.
