Step One thought and scripture – Day 10.

Step One in Alcoholics Anonymous

Admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One in Living Free

I now see [admit] that I, of myself, am powerless, unable to control [manage] my life by myself.

As we humble ourselves and resist the devil, God gives us the grace and strength to stand up against our desires and they will flee from us.

James 4:6-7

New Living Translation (NLT)

6 But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.”7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
