Step One thought and scripture – Day 1.

Step One in Alcoholics Anonymous

Admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One in Living Free

I now see [admit] that I, of myself, am powerless, unable to control [manage] my life by myself.

We are not just powerless over alcohol, but we are powerless over ourselves. We are powerless to do what is right on our own. We need to accept Jesus Christ into our life and allow Him to work within us.

Romans 7:18

New Living Translation (NLT)

18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a]I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

Romans 7:25

New Living Translation (NLT)

25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
