Step Four

Alcoholics Anonymous

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step Four

Living Free

Having made this decision, I now obey God’s call in Scripture to make a fearless, ethical, moral, and scriptural inventory of my entire life in order to uncover all sins, mistakes, and character defects and to make a written list of every item uncovered.

As we allow God to work in our life while we make a fearless and moral inventory, we need to posture ourselves in a position to thoroughly concentrate on our issues and not worry about issues in other peoples lives. This is the best way to allow God to bring correction to our life.

Matthew 7:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)

3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye[a] when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend,[b] ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.
