Having made this decision, I now obey God’s call in Scripture to make a fearless, ethical, moral, and scriptural inventory of my entire life in order to uncover all sins, mistakes, and character defects and to make a written list of every item uncovered.

As we take inventory of ourselves it is important to measure ourselves against the Word of God and to not just measure ourselves against ourselves. When we do this then our behaviors can begin to  become relative. We need to be honest and compare ourselves to God’s word.

12 Oh, don’t worry; we wouldn’t dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!
