Step Four

Alcoholics Anonymous

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step Four

Living Free

Having made this decision, I now obey God’s call in Scripture to make a fearless, ethical, moral, and scriptural inventory of my entire life in order to uncover all sins, mistakes, and character defects and to make a written list of every item uncovered.

As we make a fearless inventory of ourselves we need to be careful to consider our ways. We need to be open and honest about where we are today and where we have been in the past and allow God to make us into the person that He wants us to be in the future.

Haggai 1:5-7 New International Version (NIV)

5 Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. 6 You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”7 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.”
